A compilation of raved-out mashed-up breakcore madness, brought to you as a split release by two Portland, Oregon-based labels: Fukdup Records & Reactionary Records. We've slammed seven artists on this little ditty at 45 rpm so you get more bang for your face! And to make the record especially ravetastic it comes to you on green and blue splattered vinyl, complete with glitter highlights on the cover art. Yes, this record will make you barf rainbows!
On the FKDP side we have a couple of familiar faces: Shitmat of the British Bog; and Mochipet of Daly City (that's the capitol of San Francisco, for those of you who don't know). Shitmat opens the record with a happy hardcore (emphasis on the hardcore) beatdown of Oasis' "Champagne Supernova" inna true Shitmat style; followed by Mochipet's breakbeat techy acid jam "Dieoffextacy" - shooting skittering breaks across a warm gurgley bed of lfo's - something you can sink your teeth into. Closing out the side is Foxdye, a little secret out of Olympia, WA who's been causing dance-floor seizures on the U.S. West Coast for a while now, and is about to move on to the rest of the world. She brings a super tight and clean sound to the breakcore/gabba-mashup table, fast and fun as it should be. The Zelda bit at the end of this track is a direct order to BOUNCE!
The Reactionary side of the record features two NW acts, as well as two artists representing breakcore from America's heart-land. Blaerg opens up with a glitchy mashup of Madonna's "Cherish", which builds up to a splattering assault of sliced beats and samples, spiraling almost out of control but is then kept in check by the track's nicely twisted lfo bassline. Next up is the H8Rs from Portland, two rave-punks serving up a nice little hardcore ditty produced on two Elektribes! Seattle's Graz brings probably the most mix-friendly track on this recod, an ode to old-school amen-based hardcore, complete w/piano breakdowns and Party Monster samples, properly glitched out for today's discerning listener. Closing out the record is Michigan's Selector Catalogue, who graced Portland with his presence for a short stint last year - thus his connection with Reactionary and Fukdup. This track is pretty much the sound of a giant rave-bazooka-laser-cannon being wheeled out onto the dancefloor, turned on to "high", and subsequently sand blasting the crowd with a psychedelic shower of candy, glitter, sparkles, snares and basskicks. I'm still not entirely sure what happened, but I am indeed barfing rainbows.
